Do you make the shirts that you sell?

No, our stickers and shirts are the only products that we do not make or print ourselves. We use AS Colour shirts, and have them printed locally in Brisbane.

Are the shirts made in Australia?

No, AS Colour basics are manufactured in Bangladesh. I understand the need and desire for Australian-made clothing, and if the world of clothing calls to me, I will only be looking at Australian manufacturing. Using another brand of shirts is our starting point while we test this avenue to make sure it's viable for us, while we continue to focus on our handmade jewellery as the centre of what we do (and that is all designed, cut and made by hand in our family home).

How are the shirts printed?

Each shirt is printed using the direct-to-garment method. Direct-to-garment, or DTG, is a printing method that involves the use of a digital printer that applies ink directly onto the garment. Water-based ink is applied in a single layer that quickly absorbs into the shirt’s fibres. Similar to your ink jet printer at home, except larger and faster.  DTG printers are large and capable of handling all kinds of designs in many colours. The DTG printing method is precise and produces high-quality results.

Is the ink non-toxic?

Yes! The ink used is Kornit Neopigment Ink which is a high quality water-based, 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free ink. They contain no animal by-products and are safe for infants and babies.

How do I wash my shirt?

To keep your new BINKABU printed shirt looking its best we recommend following these washing guidelines:

  • Cold wash only, inside out
  • No harsh detergents
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Do not iron print area
  • Line dry inside out, preferably out of direct sun

Kornit DTG prints will last over 50 washes, as long as washing guidelines are observed. Some prints will last longer and are worn for many years.

  • Reusable and home-compostable mailers. Our mailers are made from renewable and compostable materials, biodegradable polymer (cornstarch), and are fully home-compostable.

  • Water soluble garment bags. Yep, you read it right - dissolve your garment bag in boiling water and give your plants a drink! The PVOH material is marine safe and uses a non-toxic, water-based ink.

  • Recyclable cards, boxes, tissue paper, stickers and labels. Our stickers are paper-based and can be recycled, as can any of our card materials. Our tissue paper is also fully home-compostable and FSC-certified.
