What is BINKABU?

BINKABU is a place to celebrate your love for birds. We are a small handmade jewellery business, based in Brisbane.

Help! I need assistance with my order!

Please email support@binkabu.com.au with your order number, full name and how we can help you, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please do not contact us on Instagram or Facebook if your query is urgent - DMs are not always monitored and can get lost.

The product I want is out of stock. When will you restock it?

While we aim to keep our bestsellers in stock as best we can, there will be periods of time where our birds are out of stock. Some of our less popular styles could even be out of stock for months. This is because we have a huge range of designs and only so many hands making them, and the process takes time. We have to prioritise the more popular styles before we can get to the less popular birds.

Plans can change often and quickly in small businesses, so unfortunately we can't provide exact dates for restocks. We would recommend signing up for restock notifications on the product page to stay up to date on when birds are restocked.

Shopping with small businesses can sometimes require a lot of patience. Please remember we are humans behind the brand and handmade items take time to make.

I'd like two designs in one pair. Can I do that?

Due to our system of production, packaging and order packing, we are unable to mix and match our earrings. Due to high demand for our flock custom orders are not possible.

Do you do custom orders?

We are unable to do custom orders due to high demand for our products and the need to focus on our current collections.

What is your returns policy?

EXCLUSIONS

Due to the nature of handmade items, there may be slight imperfections present in your pieces. We do not exchange or refund items for imperfections of this nature.

Purchases of sale items, seconds, samples or discontinued pieces are final. No refunds or exchanges can be made.

Love It or Return It Policy

We think you’ll absolutely adore your BINKABU birds, from how vibrant they are to how lightweight and easy-to-wear they feel!

But if they’re not quite what you expected, we offer a 14-day “Love It or Return It” refund guarantee.*

Simply send your order back in unworn, original condition* and we’ll refund you the cost of your items.

What Happens Once We Receive Your Return

As soon as your parcel arrives, we’ll inspect your items and send you an email to confirm.

We’ll let you know whether your return or exchange has been approved.

Return to Sender

If your parcel is returned to us as “Return to Sender,” you’ll be responsible for any postage costs associated with resending it.

To avoid delays, please double-check your delivery details at checkout.
We also recommend downloading the Australia Post app for real-time updates — they no longer leave physical cards for missed deliveries.

Damages

If your item is damaged upon arrival (damaged during transit) or if we have sent an incorrect item, please contact us immediately so that we can refund you or send your replacement. 

In these cases, BINKABU is responsible for the return postage expenses - we will send you a prepaid label to use.

Once we have received the damaged item, we will process the refund or send your replacement item.

Late or Missing Refunds / Exchanges

Waiting on a refund?

  1. Check your bank account again, and make sure you're checking your original method of payment.
  2. Contact your credit card provider — it can take a few days for refunds to appear.
  3. Contact your bank if needed.
  4. We process refunds within 14 days of approval

How much does shipping cost?

  • All prices listed in our policies and FAQs are AUD
  • Standard shipping in Australia: $10 (+$4 for Signature on Delivery)
  • Express shipping in Australia: $14 (+$4 for Signature on Delivery)
  • International shipping: Varies with location (+$5.50 for Signature on Delivery). Express option available
  • FREE standard shipping in Australia & New Zealand for orders over $150 AUD (Can upgrade to express for $4)
  • FREE international shipping for orders over $200 AUD

Processing time on orders will vary, but in general please allow 2-5 days for us to ship your items after your order is received. We strive to get your express orders out as soon as we can but we can't guarantee next-day dispatch. Express shipping is ultimately a faster method of shipping but does not guarantee faster dispatch.

EU customers please note: You will be responsible for VAT customs fees on arrival.

All items are shipped through Australia Post. We do not take any responsibility for your parcel once it has left our hands, and therefore cannot take responsibility for items lost by Australia Post. You will receive a tracking number once your order has been shipped which will allow you to follow its journey. We highly recommend choosing a 'Signature on Delivery' option for maximum security. If you have made a significant purchase and would like to insure the parcel, please contact us as soon as you place your order, if not earlier. Insurance costs will be your own responsibility. If you are having trouble finding your order, please contact us at hello@binkabu.com.au and we can help out! 

We ship to the address listed by you when you place your order. If items are returned to us due to an incorrect address or non-collection, we will contact you for an updated address to resend it to you. However, you are responsible for the cost of re-shipping an item due to incorrect details. If you realise you have made a mistake and need to change your address, contact us ASAP, and we'll gladly change it for you if we haven't sent it out yet.

Queries are best placed with Australia Post if you have any concerns about your parcel. We do not have access to any information other than your tracking number once the parcel has left our hands. To track your parcel, please input your tracking number here:

How long will it take for my birds to get to me?

Please allow 2-5 business days for order processing (processing = the time it takes to get your order ready for post. Shipping times are additional to our processing times).

We generally aim for next-day dispatch or a 2-day turnaround, but during busy periods this is not possible.

Shipping times will vary based on where you live - you can track your order through Australia Post. We have provided estimates from Australia Post with each shipping option, but these are estimates only and not guaranteed.

Do you ship internationally?

Absolutely. We send international parcels via Australia Post Standard International Shipping. We have free shipping WORLDWIDE for orders over $200 AUD!

EU customers please note: You will be responsible for VAT customs fees on arrival.

Where are your products made?

Our jewellery is made in Australia! All of our earrings are designed, cut, assembled, packaged and sent from our home in Brisbane.We prioritise slow-made, Aussie-made jewellery, as well as a happy, safe and fulfilling work environment. Though the actual raw materials need to be sourced from various locations, all of our products are designed in house and are unique to BINKABU.

Where do you source your materials from?

We source almost all of our materials from Australian suppliers. Most of our raw materials are made in the US, but we’ll source them locally where we can to support other Aussie businesses. All of the earrings themselves are made in Australia by us, and always will be. 

Our vinyl stickers are made in Australia, and our t-shirts are printed in Brisbane on AS Colour shirts. Pins, keychains and charms are printed and made in the UK on recycled materials. ALL designs are original to BINKABU.

What are your earrings made from?

Our acrylic earrings are made from laser-cut acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate, PMMA), which is a thermoplastic homopolymer known more commonly as "plexiglass." We are incredibly conscious of our environmental impact and we aim to continuously minimise the ecological footprint of our products. Read about that here.

As for the posts and hoops and other findings, we use a high quality, hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel, so a good choice for sensitive earlobes. It is scratch-resistant, corrosion-resistant and tarnish-resistant. No itchy green skin from our products! In the case of severe allergies, we do have a sterling silver option, but please note that sterling silver is a softer metal which bends and scratches easily. Unless you are very allergic to nickel, surgical stainless steel is the superior choice in our opinion.

What type of earring posts and clasps do you use?

For our posts, hoops and clip-ons we use a high quality, hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel, so a good choice for sensitive earlobes. It is scratch-resistant, corrosion-resistant and tarnish-resistant. No itchy green skin from our products!

In the case of severe allergies, we do have a sterling silver option, but please note that sterling silver is a softer metal which bends and scratches easily. Unless you are very allergic to nickel, surgical stainless steel is the superior choice in our opinion. Our sterling silver earrings also use butterfly clasp backings, not the more secure comfort clutch which we prefer.

We use a round, plastic/steel comfort clutch to secure the earring and keep the bird's head in a nice sturdy position. These backings are very firm and secure, and 1cm wide so they're super comfy! Our sterling silver earrings are the exception, which have small sterling silver butterfly clasps.

Do you do clip-on backings?

Yes! Most stud designs will have a clip-on option. We use a paddle-style clip on backing made from hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel. We don't make many as the demand is less, so you might find that they are sometimes sold out. If this is the case, we unfortunately don't do any custom ordering, so you will have to wait until they are restocked.

Please note that not all designs are suitable for clip-ons, and we cannot fulfil custom requests to modify earrings that do not have a clear clip-on option on the product page.

Do you wholesale your products?

We previously wholesaled to Australia and New Zealand on a case-by-case basis. We have currently paused our wholesale service as it isn't aligning with our business structure at this time. We apologise to our past, present and hopeful stockists, but we must prioritise a sustainable business.

In future, we may open wholesale opportunities again, including to other international locations such as the USA.
